I think I finally have my 1955 259 running pretty good. The valve job with all new valve guides and all new adjustable push rods helped a lot. The engine runs very smooth at idle and at speed too. It's a noticeable difference from before.

When I drive about 30 miles, and then park the car, a lot of oil drips out of the puke tube. About a tablespoon full. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to stop this?

My engine doesn't smoke and doesn't use oil. The engine has new pistons and piston rings (less than 2000 miles). I don't think I have a lot of blowby. So I'm just trying to figure out why so much oil drips on the floor from the puke tube after a drive.

Any advice?

Not condensation, pure oil? If you take the oil filler cap off, run the engine up to 1500 rpm, see if a lot of vapor is coming out, even to the point you can feel pressure against your hand, engine warmed up of course.

I don't see hardly any vapor or pressure coming out of the oil filler cap when the engine is idling. I'll make the 1500 rpm check like you recommend in a day or two. I've been watching the oil fill for vapors and there is just the slightest whisp of steam or smoke every once in a while.

It's mostly oil on the drip pan on the garage floor coming out of the puke tube. It's not water. I've seen old cars have smoke coming out of the puke tube when the car is running down the road. I don't think I have any smoke coming out of it while driving. I know smoke doesn't come out while it is idling and i'm watching the engine run.

fresh air is supposed to go down the oil fill & air drafting by the puke tube end is supposed to suck out the nasty air, so what you saw on the highway is the way it's supposed to work. Engines are less sludged up when a PCV valve replaces the puke tube.
