Location: Northern Illinois		hello all, looking ahead to rebuilding the front suspension on my 56 dodge custom royal. looking for good quality king pins. the car now is a manual steering car, i will be converting it to a correct power steering system for a 56 (gear box, pump / resevoir, etc..) looks like there are 2 different king pin kits (manual & p.s.) whats the difference? size? length? maybe for turning forces due to power steering? can i use the manual steering king pins when i convert? thanks in advance

I think the difference is the PS cars used two bronze bushings to locate the king pins and the non-PS cars used one bronze bushing and one needle bearing (to make turning easier, less friction)

Location: Northern Illinois		after doing a little research, it looks like the 56 d500 was the one that specified between manual and p.s. 2 different part numbers. the 55-56 v-8 cars 11 inch brakes (coronet, royal, custom) used a different kit. part number 947557. looks like the part number is still available. will go with that one and see what happens. I didn't realize that "normal" 56 Dodges with 11 brakes used 947557 regardless of PS or no PS. Good to know. (Section 2-04-1, pg. 2-6 in the 55-58 parts book)
