Location: Murray Bridge, South Australia | Have just finished having all the chrome redone at $22K, have re-assembled the all 4 gages and clock, all the gage casings were taken back to bare metal and painted just to keep them from tarnishing. The speedometer is next but the drum paper has a terrible bubbly area on it and all the ones I see out there are the same. Thought to myself can I remove that paper and have a new one printed up and refit it, has anyone completed this job before? Also is it best to install the speedo and gauges etc before reinstalling dash frame or do it later.
Thanks Bob

Location: The Mile High City | Hi, Bob: I have never redone the paper. However, I have removed the speedometer and gauges from my car by pulling them out far enough to disconnect wiring. I then reversed the process to put it back - so, worst case scenario, you can get the job done either way. I think it would be easier to wired the gauges before installing the cluster if you can. |
