Hello guys!
Can anyone shed any light on this car's IBM card? I'm trying to see what options it had and any other info. THANK YOU FOR ANY HELP!!!!

Just FYI. This build card isn't for my car. It's for the Magee 300D ran at Daytona Beach in 1958. The car wasn't terribly successful, but it's the only other 300D stick built that year (beside the Bonneville car). I'm curious to see the differences and any similarities. Anything look familiar to anyone??? Thanks! Josh

However, there are some Special Order numbers that would have covered any equipment changes / additions made to the car.

Thanks for the help Bill !!! I was told once that the manual trans was represented by the corner being cut off. I don’t know if that’s true, but my manual ‘58 300 has the same trimmed corner. Thanks Bill!

Expert Posts: 1819 Location: Vancouver, BC | The trimmed corner? The IBM card for the 1962 Dodge Lancer GT with Torqueflite I once owned had it, too. The purpose of the trimmed corner was to ensure all the cards were the right way up as well as facing the one way. Before the days of direct data entry on a terminal with monitor and keyboard, all data entered was done by IBM punch cards. A clerk would type all the data for the card and the machine would punch the necessary holes. Then the pile of cards was placed in the computer's card reader, which would read the data holes on each card. The cards were sorted and then the update program was run. If a card was placed in the deck the wrong way the card would be rejected and the data on it tossed. If you ever watch the first season of Mannix you will see them sorting IBM data cards. and producing the one Mannix needs for that day's program.

More excellent info, as usual Bill! Thank you! I’ll post my card as well. It may or may not help find more info, but wouldn’t hurt. Josh

Expert Posts: 2289 Location: Eastern Iowa | Josh, here's the special order form that was under the rear seat floor carpet in my Polar Blue 300-F. I would assume the SO form for earlier years would look somewhat the same only with the pertinent info for that car as this form has a date of 3-56 in the upper left corner. This leads me to thin k it was used for earlier model Chryslers that required a change from production norms. Wow! That’s an amazing piece of documentation! You’re a lucky man! I bet you’re right on it being used earlier. I haven’t taken my seats out of my D, but I’ve looked under most of the carpet... with the exception of the rear. I’ve been all over the C300, but nothing yet. Thanks for sharing that! Great stuff!

Under Dealer section... And there is a Fisher Road in GP but don't know a Fisher Record. My Dad and Grandfather both worked for Chrysler as Engineers back then. Dad in 1959 and my grandfather in 1955, both would retire from Chrysler eventually.</p> Edited by 1959 Belvedere Conv 2018-11-23 1:25 PM

Do you have an actual address for it? I will snap a picture of the building for you.

Veteran Posts: 259 Location: Detroit MI area | The address is 15020 Kercheval, Grosse Pointe Park MI. About 2/3 of the building is Pointe Hardware and 1/3 is a yoga studio. You can Google it and look at street view. Inside the hardware store, they have several pictures of the old dealership on the wall. I'll take some photos of them today. Jim K

That’s a good looking hardware store. Gotta imagine the windows were bigger as a dealership. Come on Jimbo... go grab those photos! We’re waiting here! ;0)
