It needs a full restoration for sure, but it appears to be complete and reasonably solid. You don't see many of these offered for sale. The Seville is interesting. My understanding is that the Seville was a spring special package offered only in 1959 and was available on Firesweep and Firedome. My stupid question... How can I tell if this is a Firesweep or a Firedome? Easy to tell on the 57-58 cars, but I'm not so sure on the 59's. Extreme Veteran Posts: 384 Location: Hershey PA | The 1959 Firesweep had shorter front fenders, different sized rims, different colors for the most part than did the dome dome had a nameplate (same from 55-58) on the front fender, the sweep nameplate from 1957/58 did not fit in the space on the fender

Expert Posts: 2003 Location: Branson, MO | Greg P. - 2017-08-08 2:27 PM Interesting. So, does a 1959 Firesweep have a "Firesweep" script anywhere on it? Some had it on the glove box door but none had them on the front fender from the factory. My '59 has none on the car anywhere and it is factory original.

Location: Parts Unknown | That above ad for the blue Seville shows the long fenders of the 126" WB car, so it would be a Firedome. Also note the Firedome script in the same area. Firesweep has no side scripts, so just a glance tells the intrepid DeSoto spotter that this is not a Firesweep and most assuredly a Firedome. Easy peasy !

Expert Posts: 2003 Location: Branson, MO | Not so fast! I'm going out on a limb here and disagreeing with Doc. I believe it is a Firesweep as there are no scriipt locating holes in either front fender where "Firedome" would be placed and there is no script on the glovebox door. Also, in comparing the front fenders on a couple of the photos, it appears to me the Seville fenders are shorter than the Adventurer in the sill area between the fender opening and the front door.

Location: Parts Unknown | Viperdude, ... I am commenting on the blue car in the 1959 ad above as being a Firedome. I believe you are correct in thinking the Seville for sale in the original poster's link is indeed, a Firesweep. It has the obviously shorter fenders.

Expert Posts: 1918 Location: Hell's Outhouse - a.k.a. Buckeye, Arizona | My first finned pursuit was at age 15 in 1987 - a 1959 DeSoto Firedome Seville 4 door hardtop like the one just above, only it was solid white with a sky blue sweep. 361, torqueflite, PS, PB, dual antennas & swivels. Carb and master cylinder were both in serious need of a rebuild, but it was an otherwise a sound, rock solid car. Lady selling it said it was her late husband's car - had an asking price of $2,500, but she wouldn't sell to a 15 year old without a driver's license. LOL! I still have pictures of that car somewhere in a buried box around here.....

Elite Veteran Posts: 769 Location: Oley, PA | With less than 8 hours to go, the bid is at $10,100. It doesn't say "reserve not met" so does that mean it will sell? I don't fully understand the current eBay auction rules. I also noticed that the BIN price of $15k is no longer displayed. I'm not sure what that means. In any case, it seems like a good opportunity for someone to own a restorable 59 Adventurer. I suppose the 59's aren't as desirable as the 57's and 58's, but they are still very cool and rare cars.

Expert Posts: 2003 Location: Branson, MO | I believe the reserve has been removed and since that happened, it will sell for the high bid. (Unless there are some shenanigans going on with the bidding, and the high bidder is a "phoney".) Many times the bidding is slow untill the final few minutes are left and then all hell breaks loose. It wouldn't surprise me on this car. Edited by Viper Guy 2017-08-14 11:16 AM

The Regal Lancer successfully sold 4 times and then was forcefully removed by Ebay on the last listing.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 363 | I was semi interested in this and the other cars he has, but the consensus on here is that this seller is at the very least very deceptive? Also going on the minimal amount of pics he has posted I really can't take that risk on condition etc ......can I? Yeah....If he actually has this car and is actually selling it. The Regal Lancer successfully sold 4 times and then was forcefully removed by Ebay on the last listing.
