Location: Sunny Northern California | Hi, everyone
I'm having a problem with keeping the interior rear view mirror in place on my 58 Fury. Try as I may, it keeps flopping around, not staying in the middle. I'm just wondering if there's some piece missing that holds the ball in the cup besides tightening the base. Does the ball just sit in the open cup area in the base? Or are there more pieces involved that I don't have? I've had the car for 7 years and am now having this problem with the mirror.
Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
Phil

The housing and ball does wear over the years of vibration, and gets a bit sloppy. Some people make thin shims, using plastic or rubber, to put under the ball. I've heard of using a very thin o-ring, but I haven't tried it myself. Also helps to have the proper tool to tighten the collar. These pop up on evilpay every so often. |

Location: So. Cal | I've had brand new cups and they still slip on me. I just end up putting a large nylon washer in there to tighten against it. Works great after that. |
