Member Posts: 34 Location: Eringsboda/Blekinge/Sweden | Hi, I'm converting my wifes 58 New Yorker to disc brakes, and wondering if there's a dual master cylinder that fits straight on the firewall and fits under the brake booster, 392 so the valve cover takes a lot of space to, somebody say a mc from a 67-70 A body will fit, anybody know if i't will ? Best regards/ Magnus.

Best regards/ Magnus. I think you will want a disc/drum dual MC not a drum/drum dual MC if you are going discs on the front. Have a look at this thread to get you going: http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=59648&... I think you will want a disc/drum dual MC.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 309 Location: Western Colorado | I attempted to do the AAJ kit and could not find a master cylinder to clear the spark plug wire cover on my 58 N/Y'er wagon. I even milled a tapered spacer to tilt up the M/C but it still would not clear. Even tried grinding down the "rib" on the m/c to no avail. I think part of the problem was all new motor mounts and transmission mount raised the engine by approx. 3/8". Just enough to cause the engine to fit the m/c. I talked to Rodger at AAJ and he confirmed that some people have this issue. I decided to keep everything stock so I went back to the drum brakes, with all new components, which work fine when everything is adjusted properly. I also think that going back to the old asbestos brake linings helps tremendously. I can get all four tires to slide, if I have too. If I hadn't decided to keep stock, I would have gone with the remote reservoir system. Bob

Expert Posts: 3778 Location: NorCal | I've often thought one could fabricate an adapter to move the MC over towards the fender to clear the Hemi valve cover like the factory did on the Hemi A-bodies in the sixties. Pushrod alignment is compensated by moving the pushrod to the other side of the pedal.
