Member Posts: 45 Location: Vacaville,Ca or Harbor springs,Mi | Anyone know where to get a set of rear leaf springs for a 1959 Chrysler Windsor? I see Kanter has them but at $610 now. Sheesh. I guess that's ok if that is the only source, just seeing if anyone has found another one for less or used a spring from another car at all. Mine are basically flat and rusty being in Michigan. Thanks.

Or if you are in a large city, there may still be a real spring shop that can still do the job, but very unlikely they will have access to blueprints any more like the 2 companies above.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9681 Location: So. Cal | I had a local truck shop make up a set of new rear springs for my DeSoto and I couldn't be any happier. They use a progressive spring so that it doesn't give a harsh ride, yet makes the car handle like a dream and handles extra load very easily. Changing the rear springs on this big car transformed it into almost the best handling car that I own. Really nice. Just keep in mind that it will be a lot stiffer than your originals so don't make up a set of 7 leafs. Stick with the 5 or 6 leaf design. Edited by Powerflite 2017-03-26 11:35 PM

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9681 Location: So. Cal | It was Atlas Springs in the City of Industry. I gotta warn you though that they don't have design files for these cars and they just do their best to copy what you have to make it work. The new springs are quite a bit stiffer than the originals. I ordered a spring pack with 1 extra spring in it than the original, and I ended up taking the pack apart and removing the 2nd longest leaf to make it work to my liking. So you might start with a pack that has the same number of leafs as the original instead. Anyway, I am just warning that there is some amount of adjustment that I had to do to make it work to my liking. But after it was done, I couldn't be happier with it. A very nice upgrade to my car - and I didn't have to pay $150 shipping to get them, just $40 in taxes instead Edited by Powerflite 2017-05-14 8:50 PM

Eaton Detroit Springs has original blueprints for most cars. I bought a set for my 61 about 12 years ago- very happy with service and quality. I looked up the current price and it looks like approximately $500 a set.
