Regular Posts: 58 | So I picked up a 56 Custom Royal a/c car last summer for my wife. It had a cracked exhaust manifold but it was I thought a mostly original car minus the Chevy orange engine paint. The car still had the original shocks on it. I am pulling the motor to do a reseal, fix the cracked manifold and doing a 4bbl swap. I looked at the engine number and it shows a KDS-6577 which is a 325 designation correct? I don't really care if it's had a engine swap but I just would like to have some validation.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 494 Location: Alberta | The KDS is obviously a poly (semi hemi) nick name. The engine block is the same as the KD in other words the hemi the cylinder heads will fit this block the pistons are of coarse different in a poly engine but can be changed up to the domed pistons designed for the hemi 325 the KDS is most likely out of a 57 Dodge Royal as the lower models received the 303 with the KV indicating 57 year,V plymouth poly and the C indicating Canadian built on my 57 Suburban as shown in the photos posted here. Regular Posts: 58 | Ok so I have a issue or problem. I had thought we settled that I had a 1957 325 motor in my 1956 dodge. I pulled the intake tonight and it has coolant passages going thru it. I am pretty sure that the 315/325 had a dry intake correct? Elite Veteran Posts: 628 Location: Lubbock, TX | That casting number of 1739429-1 corresponds to the 1957 325 "KDS" Poly V8. I don't know what else to tell you...

Expert 5K+ Posts: 6500 Location: Newark, Texas (Fort Worth) | looks like the 325 dodge poly has a water crossover in the center of the intake manifold. http://victorylibrary.com/mopar/dodge-c2.htm http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mopar-Hemi-426-392-354-345-341-331-330-325-... http://www.allpar.com/mopar/poly.html Edited by mstrug 2017-04-01 5:06 AM

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9672 Location: So. Cal | Marc is correct. There are coolant ports on the 315/325 intakes. But this doesn't make it a wet intake like the 277,301,303,318 "A" poly motor or the DeSoto motors. Those coolant ports on the 315/325 are used to provide a coolant connection to the heater core. The later Chrysler hemi motors are the same way. Edited by Powerflite 2017-04-01 11:13 AM

Expert Posts: 3777 Location: NorCal | The 315/325 Poly intakes could be drilled and tapped for a coolant connection but not all were. (325 Poly Intake.JPG) Attachments ---------------- 325 Poly Intake.JPG (181KB - 185 downloads)
