Scanning a Brochure: For clean or modify a brochure it must be scanned in. The higher the resolution, the better for editing. A useful resolution is 600dpi, better 1200dpi if available.

New scanner offer resolutions up to 2400dpi. The upper limitation then is given by the resulting file size, or the program is unable to open it.

With a Resolution Scanner Utility the resolution of the scanner can be selected up to 19200dpi. In order to get an acceptable file size (max 2000MB), the size of the picture must be cropped correspondingly. Can state, at this resolution the scanner works as a virtual Microscope.

The rear page of the 1959 DODGE Brochure is scanned with 300dpi, then for show here, reduced to a width of JPG 25cm/72dpi (01).

Again on the same page the small picture on top left (Steering Wheel), 2.5cm x 2.5cm at 19200dpi (2167MB). As well for show here, reduced to JPG 25cm x 25cm/72dpi (02).

Interesting is to see now, without single pixels, the structure of the multicolor printing technology applied at the time. – SERGE-

Interesting.

However, because of the 250KB upload limit here, unless you have publically accessable server to link to/from, the max that I have found that works to upload here is 100 dpi (maybe 150 dpi on smaller items).

Yes, the upload limit here is 250k, independent of the resolution. The higher the resolution, the smaller the cutout must be.
In the shown picture, the resolution of 19200dpi is kept, but the cutout of the back of the hand is resized to 0.1cm x 0.1cm (or 1mm x 1mm) of the original.

Displaying this on the screen it will be zoomed to about 2500 times (!). Now the pixels of the picture start to become visible.

For an acceptable quality at minimum file size (to save capacitiy on this site!), the pictures in my threads are usually set to 25cm x 25cm at 72dpi.  - SERGE -

Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Edgar Degas, Vincent van Gogh, and Paul Cézanne would be proud...

Very nice Serge, this means that a Picture can be cleaned up at very high resolution.

For your knowledge, the "ALBUMS" option in the right upper corner alows each member to create an album - here bigger size Pictures is allowed.

Umm.... you might want to police that Album section. I found a bunch of 54 Belevdere photos and even worse, 59 Chevy photos. Doesn't seem right.

Just sayin'

Way I see it - there's no limitations to just Forward Look photos in the albums. I saw the 54 belvy photos and the Chevy 59 plant photos as well - but I don't see any reason to delete them.
