Hello everyone,

I'm working on a '59 Plymouth. I was hoping to take the heater door out of the firewall and send it to Quirelys to have them restore/refurbish it for me. However, I'm not really sure how to remove it. Has anyone removed one of these before? The only potential path my inexperienced eyes see is drilling out spot welds that hold it to the firewall and sending the whole thing as an assembly, but is there another (less destructive) way?

Thanks in advance!

Isn`t the door assembly attached to the inside firewall with four small bolts up high under the air channel? At least on Dodge and Desoto..

There is a pin at either end of the door/flap. , i gently push the pin back enough to clear the bracket and then tip the flap assy out, once out you will see
how the pins are attached to the flap, at the end of the pins is a rubber stop, this is soft enough to allow the pin to be pushed back enough
to clear the frame. The flap will need to be removed from inside the car too.
