Veteran Posts: 217 Location: Echuca | Hi guys, hoping someone may be able to help as to whether the website classiccars.com is a legitimate site? Just knowing there are so many dud sites that extract information and data from other sites I am a bit wary of being caught out. The main reason I am asking is there is a car in St Clair Michigan I am interested in but have only seen the listing on the aforementioned site.

Veteran Posts: 217 Location: Echuca | Yeah that is the main reason I am being cautious, we have a couple like that here in Australia and they are all scam ads

Location: Indiana | not familiar with the site... maybe they are a "broker", they sell the car for the owner and take a cut of the selling price to pay for advertising the car being for sale...

Location: North Australia | Travis, I found my 1960 Imperial on this site. I had been looking for 7 years for this particular model car, a 2drht Crown. This was in October 2009. I contacted the seller in the add and got in contact with the eldest daughter of the owner. I made my way to the owners house in SF Cali 18 days later (I was going over to the States for a training course through my work, luckily!). Spoke to him in person at his house, looked at the car, and became the second caretaker of this fine auto. Kenney Johansen is gone now, he died early last year, but I consider this car as still his, (which is probably a bit weird?). I say go for it. Start making calls, get the Communication going and get someone to go look if you cant. It just might be the last chance you get to bag that rare bird. Steve.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 5006 | many for sale sites are not updated... Classiccars is a legitimate website though. They bad ones scrape other for sale sites to get activity but the car is long gone for a years. But you can only try contacting the seller and if your interested do you homework and due diligence. You can actually find the owner and property they live at in the US, unless its an apartment, ask for more pics, etc. Edited by mikes2nd 2016-12-01 7:37 AM

Veteran Posts: 217 Location: Echuca | Hi everyone, sadly I missed out on a 60 NewYorker Hardtop that was in St Clair Michigan, so now I am on the lookout again for a good 60 Newyorker hardtop again if anyone has a lead.
