Finally I got the parcel from Gary (W22 weatherstrip set). I removed the old weatherstrip at the quarter window on the drivers side. I had to cut the old weatherstrip in pieces to remove it.
But I couldn't install the new weatherstrip. It seems impossible to slide it into the rail. I used a lot of silicone oil. I do not have a special pliers to force it into the rail. The ambient temperature was around freezing point. So it seems I have to wait until the ambient temperature rises. How did you do this job on your 2d ht beauty?

Could you share how you solved this? I will be facing the exact same situation soon.

As far as I concern the second time I used soap (liquid soap used to clean dishes -manual cleaning) and water. I put one lip holded by the rail into it. The position of the weatherstrip I adjusted to the final position (vertical direction - when the quarter window is closed).

Then I used a really big screw driver (#6) and carefully pushed the second lip into the rail. Of course there are better tools but the big # 6 screw driver has really small radius around the blade. Take care not to dig into the weatherstrip.

Happy Restoring!

Dieter

I am reluctant to use detergent soap like Dawn because the rubber seems to dry out and crack after just a couple of years. It may not do it on weatherstripping but it did on bushings that came from two different sources so i am suspecting it was the soap.

Thanks a lot for the tips, guys! All very good info!

I will tackle this task this weekend, as my quarter window weatherstrips are pretty much non-existent now!
