Can anyone help me indentify my engine positively? The number on the front of the block is P27 42019
I need a fuel pump, but the parts books show a different pump for the 259 and 260.
The motor was purchased from another guy last spring, and he is not sure what it was either.
Thanks!

Well, if the first three digits are any indication, and they should be, it's a '55 model year Plymouth V-8. According to my book, it's either a 241 cid or a 259 cid (the only two V-8s Plymouth had that year).

I ordered a fuel pump for a 259 and it had a much shorter activation arm than what is on my car. Rock Auto has one for a 1955 Plymouth 260 that looks just like mine. My Hollander is really unclear about the whole thing, or I am not smart enough to read it right.

P27 42019 is a 1955 Plymouth 241-cid poly V8. They switched to the 259/260 (depends if you round it up or down) at engine number P27 60201.

The 1955 parts book shows part number 1637 367 for the pump, which was also used on 1955 Dodge V8 engines (269) and 1955 Chrysler V8 engines.
