Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | I need a good set of 4 rims for my '58 Desoto. They are 14in. Same as 14in Plymouth, Chrysler, Dodge. I believe its 5x 4 1/2 bolt pattern. Imperial is different. Send me a PM or reply. Thanks!

Member Posts: 5 | My 58 Firesweep has Ford 5x4 1/2 14" wheels on the front.....Have not found another set that match the Mopars! There is 1/4" spacers to keep them from rubbing. Other than that they work.

Expert Posts: 1506 Location: Colo Spgs | Hola Garrett The Bolt Pattern is the same for Jr. Chrysler's - De Soto's - Dodge's and Plymouth's. It is the width of the rim that is different. Jr. Chrysler's and De Soto's are always the same. If the wheel is from a Dodge or Plymouth Station Wagon --- it is a same width as the De Soto or Jr. Chrysler. Other than this --- do use a photo and your Tape Measure. Rodger and Gabby COS psst What is your Wheel Base ?

Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | Thanks for the insight. I'm still a little confused. I have a Firedome, wheelbase 126in. So rims from a Plymouth passenger car are smaller? My Hollander's interchange manual is no help....

Expert Posts: 1506 Location: Colo Spgs | Hola Garrett The bottom is 14 inches in diameter x 5 inches across, the middle is 14 inches in diameter x 5.5 inches across and the largest is 14 inches in diameter x 6 inches across. With The small sized wheel ( 14 x 5 ) and the tyre that is correct for any Jr. Chrysler or De Soto ---- every one else will see/ note this. ------------- The 126 inch Wheel Base means that you have a De Soto - De Soto and not a Dodge with some De Soto trim and etc ( aka Firesweep ). Plymouths are 5 inch And Dodge/ Desoto Firesweep are 5.5 from memory is how it goes . I have a Mint set of date coded 58 Desoto WHeels I am probably not going to use after finding out the modern radials ruin them . I am not going to run the old style type tyres , so I will fit Valiant wheels which have the correct offset , unlike the Later Chrysler and maybe ford where you have to run a spacer to clear the brake drum and centre .

Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | Ok, so they are 14 x 6in across, does anyone know the offset? I don't know where to find it, again Hollander's is no help and can't find the offset listed in any reference material. Thanks for all this info folks I didn't realize there were that many differences.

Elite Veteran,, James Passed away March 2021, He will be Missed Posts: 1028 Location: Melbourne, Australia | Its not the offset that's the problem , the centre bubble of the wheels are larger on the original style to clear the large 12 inch drums on the bigger cars . Say a 1966 Chrysler 300 which I have has 11 inch drums and those wheels will not clear the bigger 12 inch drums on my Desoto and you have to run spacers .

Elite Veteran Posts: 943 | Thanks but like you said overseas shipping would be huge, it would be cost prohibitive I think.
