Hi all,

Are there any replacement TC that can be used in place of the original for the powerflight transmission. My car is going into the shop tomorrow but i just thought id ask to see if there were any other options available other than to upgrade the whole transmission. I really like my PF. Thanks

You can have it rebuilt and you can use a Cast Iron TF TC, as far as I know. I have both transmissions with air cooled and a water cooled TC. The mount / fitment is the same. At least for the two I have.

The question I have to ask though is why do you want to know? The PF TC has a very specific response range to support the fact that the trans is only a two speed. Messing with that spec TC requires some serious thought.

Good advice referring to the stall speed differences.

Ty, I picked up an extra Powerflite from Nathan (Powerflite happens to be his member name here) and torque converter a couple of weeks ago that was fully functioning when removed last year from his '56 Plymouth. Hit me up if you need the torque converter.

Hi Dave,

Well i took it in to the tranny shop yesterday and they said its the pump..is the pump inside the TC?? Im not really sure what that means but im bringing it back on the 30th for them to repair it. He said he was going to order the pump however thanks for the offer i may still buy the TC off you.

The pump is mounted in the front end of the transmission. A damage drive sleeve might press on the pump, but I guess that it's the converter.
