For those of you who have the ability to decode these fender tags.

Is there a book that you are pulling these numbers from? If so what does it look like and where can I get one?

Thanks

No books on the Forward Look cars to my knowledge. All the salescodes comes from sources with insight and knowledge, like Bill, as well as comparing Equipment and cars

There is one Forward Look book with all the codes but the book is ONLY for the '57 Chrysler 300C and the codes do not necessarily apply to anything other than 1957 Chryslers. I authored and sell the " '57 Chrysler 300C Handbook".

....Long days and nights studying various factory literature, and, making some deductive
conclusions on the research data obtained.

And this pertains to every year, individually, of the FWDLK cars.

I speak 55-61 Dodge; 57-59 fluently; 60:good; not perfect. 61 has apparently redundant codings, on various
of their IBM cards, for the same options; very frustrating research.

1955-1956 Dodges: fairly well, but they SHARE a common IBM Build card, and their options, on those cards, are not clearly
defined.

The 56 and the 61 Dodges are the most difficult to decode.

Good lock, on decoding the other FWDLK years' codes.

Would Darrell Davis's book on the '61 sonoramic cars help me with some of the decoding?

Each time that I can confirm a sales code (and that is seldom); it's like celebration time!

Frankly, I don't think you'll find anything in books with the exception of the '57 above......

Perhaps this is an opportunity to make some sort of comprehensive book on this stuff

Most of us would have got the build info on our cars (if available) to knock a lot of this on the head

Only thing is, it might require a different thread for each make/model/year

I suggest just pinning the year/make at the top of this forum section and we can all add codes as we go. The first line on our tags are pretty easy to figure. Production date, body and paint. It's the second and third lines that are difficult to decipher without a corresponding build sheet or IBM/Chrysler historical print out.

The build sheet and/or IBM/Chrysler historical print out does not translate the sale codes into the alphanumerical codes that where stamped on the fender tags, but knowing a sale code might help to guess the alphanumerical code...... Sorry, this is just the way it is.
