Location: Jamaica Plain, MA | Hi,
A question came upon me that I couldn't answer. We know of course the Dodge and other 122 inch WB models came with B engines, in addition in the case of Dodges, 318s and I think L-Heads in 1959. Were the V8 frame motor mount ears welded further forward on B engine equipped cars than on 318 equipped cars? Perhaps to make up for the difference of the block length to radiator yoke? I know a guy who is trying to put a 361 in a 318 equipped car, and it's lining up too far back. I would have guessed it would be a bolt-in procedure provided the engine, motor mounts, and transmission are year-correct.
Thank you!

You are correct, the mounts from the senior cars will place the engine in the wrong spot. The ears on the mounts can be cut off, and replacements fabricated and welded on to replicate the wedge mounts, as they are getting rather scarce.

Location: Jamaica Plain, MA | Thank you Mr. Fowlie. A further question, based on more info-- this fella has a 62 361 and aluminum pushbutton TF with rear drum that he wants to put in his 59 Dodge. I'm wondering if he should use 62-? up mounts. I think I'm clear, that the wedge mounts are different..The sad thing is--I've done this swap with a 318 powered 58 Plymouth and a 62 413. I remember changing the rear transmission mount with a 62 spring-style one, but I guess I'm senile, because I totally forget what I did up front. I also remember having a good old school guy fuse the driveshafts perfectly for about $100. Maybe I chopped off the frame ears, got everything lined up, and welded some fabbed frame ears further up to line up with the free hanging mounts? I don't remember and it's bugging me.
Thanks again,
Jon
