Location: Cochrane, Alberta		Hey fellas; I have the rear end of my 56 regent out for cleaning/ painting while I paint the underside of my car.
As usual there has obviously been a pinion seal leak for a while. Maybe I am going blind but I have gone through the shop manual rear end section several times and I can't find any info on changing the seal out.
Anybody got any tips/ tricks for a v6 1956 rear end? Not sure if it has a crush bearing?

Hmm. The Plymouth manual devotes a couple of paragraphs to the seal replacement.

It's pretty straight forward; remove the flange and pry out the old seal...install the new seal, oil the seal surface on the flange and install it, install the thick washer with the convex side toward the nut, then torque the nut to 250 ft. lbs.

The only potential difficulty is holding the flange from turning while removing/installing the nut. A long bar between two bolts on the flange braced against the spring leaf works for me.
