Veteran Posts: 157 Location: bountiful, Utah | I have a loaded 60 Matador wagon and just purchased a power swivel seat for it. I am so excited to get this one going. It has been parked in the same place since 1971, and started right up with a new fuel pump. It has power windows but not a power back window.. Weird. What upholstery pattern do I use if I want to go with the all vinyl interior? There has been talk about the Polara pattern being the same, but I did not know if the swivel seat made a difference. Anyone know what is the correct pattern to use??? Thanks, Scott

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7207 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | Here are examples of the all vinyl interior, the one in brown is actually in a Matador wagon. NOTE that that fancier Polara door trim panels weren't used on the Matador with the vinyl upholstery option. Veteran Posts: 157 Location: bountiful, Utah | Thank you Ian. I'm still a bit confused. Since I have the swivel seat, do I use the same pattern as shown in your photos of the brown interior, only skipping the part where the center arm rest is? Dorsey, I'm using the front door panels that I got from you a while ago. The gentleman who owned the car since 1962 converted the front windows from power to manual. I guess something broke. He just substituted Pioneer door panels and manual windows. I'll get some photos up next week. Thanks again for the help.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7207 Location: Victoria, BC, on Vancouver Island, Canada | Note that the above pattern is correct - the driver's side seat is a-symmetrically patterned to the passenger side. Note also that the blue cloth material in the car above is the wrong material. I have also seen a couple of them done like this, below where they have matched the "dip" in the passenger's side seat-back to the driver's side seat-back. I am assuming it isn't correct but it looks good. Richard Carptenter's Polara 2 door HT is also done like this. The red cloth in this car is the correct material. Veteran Posts: 157 Location: bountiful, Utah | Ian, Thanks so very much. I'm leaning to doing mine like Richard Carpenter's red interior above. It just looks fantastic! Only mine will be green. I'll post pictures soon!

I'm leaning to doing mine like Richard Carpenter's red interior above. It just looks fantastic! Only mine will be green. I'll post pictures soon! No problem, I actually prefer the look of the red one as well, with the "dip" in the upholstery on the passenger side seat back. The red one actually isn't Richard Carpenter's - his Polara is Black with a brown interior. I kind of wonder if any left the factory made with the upholstery like this - maybe a mid year change? If you buy a 60 Polara Kit from Modelhaus the swivel seats have this pattern in the kit as well. One thing to note, that many upholsterers miss when doing these, is that the seam between the cloth and vinyl, especially on the seat bottom where the cloth meets the vinyl, should be "pinched" or "pulled in" as per the factory did, which gives it a more plush look, instead of leaving the seams flat. Veteran Posts: 157 Location: bountiful, Utah | Thanks got the detailed information! I just forwarded photos to my neighbor Cory (60 crossram) to post for me, so they should be up soon. It is a very solid car with no floor pan rust but some rear quarter and front fender rust. Oh, one more thing, do you know where I can get the rectangular (kinda) upholstered pieces that go on the driver's seat? Anyone have any available? Thanks, Scott

Thanks, Scott If you're talking about the rectangular "buttons", good luck finding them. I suppose they could be made up from a piece of plastic or aluminum and be upholstered. They would need a loop on the back to attach string or cable to attach them. Don't ask me for dimensions - !
