Veteran Posts: 127 Location: Minneapolis | I'm looking to get some tires for my Flite, just to be able to roll it around and on the trailer. I'm planning on driving it hopefully this summer but maybe next, I'm not going to let it sit on the tires, so I don't want to buy tires twice. Is Coker my only choice? I'd like to go with their bias look radials but they don't come in the factory size of 8.5 14, the closest was 8.0 14 I think. Should I just go with the bias plies or go with the skinnier tires? How is the quality from Coker (on their bias and radials)? I've heard mixed reviews. Thanks for any and all advice. -Dan

Extreme Veteran Posts: 480 Location: The Great Northwest | This may seem unfair to some, but based on my personal experience and that of a few friends, I would never put another Coker tire on my cars. Lucas offers a Goodyear Custom Super Cushion 8.00 x 14 with a 2 1/4" bias ply whitewall that is appropriate for my 61 NYer (should be 8.50) that has the original height of 28.67 inches. Using a radial tire that has a height of 26.4 just doesn't work for me. Lester offers a Lester whitewall in a 9.00 and 9.50 bias six ply tire but it is about 29.5 inches tall which seems too tall and heavy. Goodyear Custom Super Cushion bias tires are available just not in an 8.50 for the large cars or 9.00 for station wagons. Maybe someday Diamondback will actually produce the Auburn II radial in a 14" version they have been talking about for close to two years. Maybe someday Coker will make a tire that is better than the crappy ones I have gotten from them in the past. For now, I'm one of those dinosaurs that are going with the Goodyear look for the 61.

Expert Posts: 1506 Location: Colo Spgs | Hola Dan Look for any make of 205 - 225 x 75 x 14 Radial Tire that is of a correct diameter to use on your car. The Black Wall is always 100% Correct. *** Radials have a wider "foot print" than an equal diameter Bias Tire. This makes more stress and wear on your Steering Parts. *** Rodger & Gabby COS

Extreme Veteran Posts: 480 Location: The Great Northwest | Roger, Tire charts I have seen show the tire height of a 205/75R 14 is 26.1 and a 225/75R 14 is 26.4 while the original Goodyear bias ply is 28.6 which is why they seem too small on my 61 NYer. Maybe everybody else likes the look of shorter tires on old cars..............

Veteran Posts: 127 Location: Minneapolis | Giving your pinion based on your experience isn't being unfair at all. People's experience with these tires is exactly what I'm looking for. I came across the diamondback website in my search, it would be nice if they made some 14s for us. I like the idea of the Goodyear super cushion, I'm more concerned with having the proper diameter. The Goodyears are more reasonably priced too. Roger, as 56300B said, those are just too short. To each their own, but I think these cars look kinda funny with short tires. Plus, I want to keep mine as original as possible. Thanks for the responses! -Dan
