I saw this car at the Turlock swap meet. Looked to be a pretty decent body.

This is utterly strange but I recognize the material on the seats, and I am 100% sure of it. The material is stock cloth that was used in 1978-1979 Dodge Ram Vans, with the upgraded cab upholstery. I know for sure as I bought one new in 1979 and drove it until 1993, and the seats had this exact material in this color!!! Someone must have gotten some yardage of it somewhere, kind of strange!!

This car is the REAL DEAL....options and equipment-wise, and I HOPE that at least THIS car might stay in its homeland.

It is a wonderful time capsule, as-is, and it would make for a perfect weekly-DRIVER-car.

This car needs an owner who will gently preserve its present condition, and not get seduced by the
prospects of trying to make a "Super D500" convertible out of it.

Sadly, cars in this one's truly original condition (OK; so re-upholster the driver's seat; no big deal, there, given
the car's well-used-but-not-abused condition)......are disappearing, like old war veterans do.

For the serious true car collector, this ride is of great importance, as it is both an artifact and a "Reference
Original" to the 1957 Dodge convertible.

WOW....

The carpeting (probably) and the heel pad (for sure) are not OEM to the car; carpeting was optional on the
Coronets.

The carpeting, now in the car, does resemble the knap/style of the OEM material, but it looks like there is a selvage
piece/strip running across the trannie hump, which might confirm that the carpeting is not OEM to the car.

Hopefully, the OEM rubber floor mats still exist, underneath the present carpeting, because the rubber mats
are Unobtanium.

Gonna buy some Lottery tickets, today.

First thing I would do is get the rims and hubcaps back on it, and it would be perfect! Great, great car, that I would be proud to own.

Next to red/black, this is my favorite color combo for 57 Dodge. I love this car, but it would be hard to resist adding a heater. This is gonna go for big bucks, unless the auction ends early when someone makes the seller an offer he can't refuse.

Couple detail notes: the top boot color (does-) match the INTERIOR color(s), and not (necessarily) either the top's-color
nor the car's 'main/dominant' body color.

And, the Dodge convertible's top bows are painted to match the top's color.....ergo: no OEM green bows with white
top-material....but, you WILL see OWNER-changed white or black tops, with 'opposite' colored top bows.

Another neat factoid: all 57 Dodge (V/8 model) Coronets came standard with the 2-bbl carburetor
and a single exhaust pipe.

Dual exhaust pipes (like this car apparently has on it) was a SINGLE-option, as was the
"Power Package" option, which consisted of the dual exhaust pipes, and....a single 4-bbl carburetor.

This car has, only, the dual pipes, (for operational efficiency) but NOT the 'big' carb (for
operational economy)...but, it's still got those drop-dead LOOKS!

All Coronet models were SUPPOSEDLY not to have that "V" emblem on their trunks (like the Royals and Custom Royals have on their trunks....) and, only the Coros were SUPPOSED to have the black painted
end-of-fin cap-plates on them.

However, in some vintage/historical photos, cars will be seen with the "wrong" end-of-fin cap plates, and/or the "V"
emblems, on them....so, again, Never-Say-Never with FWDLK'ers!

But, in this regard, the Dodge Technical Service Bulletin, of 6/6/57 states that various front
suspension components (like the upper/lower control arms, etc) are no longer to be pre-finished or painted at the factory.

This car was built o.o.a. 2/14/57, before that running-design-change took effect, and its suspension components are finished in assembly-line black alkyd.

Note the smaller of the two heater block-off plates; that guy is (somehow...) a rare find today, and
rather valuable!

Solid black door panels? Are those original? This car is pretty low optioned...I dig it! Only better if it had dogdish caps.

YEP; solid black door panels (note the OEM heat-embossed patterns on the base [non-Custom Coronet] model door
trim panels.

It didn't have the Doggies, but it did have the 'plain' wheel covers on it.

Doggies would have (would BE) bitchin on this ride.

They did seem to appear original...Dodge could have easily added some contrasting white or something on there! The solid black just adds to the low buck flair.

According to my price guide source, $50k is a decent ballpark price for this gem........I just wish I had that kind of loot laying around somewhere.....

Looks nice as a driver car, but its on its way to needing to come off the road for a resto, its bleeding fluids, needs paint and panel work, top is no good and its interior is tired

I like it, but 50K for a project car is a lot of money, maybe 25 to 30, but only because its a convertible, a sedan in the same condition would be lucky to get 10

It's a shame he wants so much for it. I wouldn't mind having it as an original driver, would be cool Do just enough to make it safe and road worthy.
