I'm on my second set of rod bearings for my 315 hemi. This set is NOS made by Michigan Bearing and still in the box. They stick out beyond the side of the rod on one side and are offset inward on the other. It's the same on rods from two engines, and both sets of bearings have the problem. Any ideas?

It has a tab that locates it from side to side.

Of course the insert has to sit inboard on one side to clear the chamfer for the crank journal fillet, but the opposite side is face to face with the other rod. What part number is on the insert itself?
Waaaay back in the 'olden days' (just after light and fire), some manufacturers made inserts slightly different widths for DeSoto and Dodge then later figured out that the narrower insert worked for both.
The correct width of the insert should be close to 0.800".

Here's a picture of the box. The shop that did my machine work said the part numbers should be 7140CAP with a Dodge interchange of CB 482P.
I bought both sets from HotHeads. They said 7140CAP was no longer available and 7145T was a DeSoto part that would interchange. They measure approx .85" wide.

Egge p/n is cb 482 not 483, same for Napa.

HotHeads insists 483 is right for my 315. I may give NAPA a try.

No matter what anyone days those bearings are wrong for both the poly and the hemi, way too .wide. Ebay lists the 482 bearings for your engine.

I used the 482-10 under on my 56 315 poly because they because that's what came out of my engine. I think that I finally got them from Kanter. They were very hard to find. They work fine so far.

Yep, I got a set of 482-20's from Kanter. They looked good and installed easily. Hopefully they will work well.
