All,

I have fluid coming out of the top of the steering arm where the vertical steering gear is located.
Wiz, or anyone else, have you tackled this job? How difficult would it be?

The worst part is actually to get the pitman arm off (I interpret that you mean the steering gear cross shaft seal).
For to get the steering arm (pitman arm) off, you need a good puller and some patience. I have marked the seal in the picture below - as you see, it sits high up, just under the lower bushing. There was special tools from Miller for to pull out the seal with the steering gear in place. Now, one must figure out a home made puller and pull the old seal out. The new seal will be easy to install with a piece of tube that has been machined in a lath to the correct diameter.

Well, getting the seal off is relatively easy. You need a pair of the helping hands and a large pucket.
Raise up the car on good stands, Take steering arm off, remove dust seal if there is one, remove seger-ring that holds the seal.
Then hold the pucket under the steering gear, Your helper starts the engine for about 2 seconds and rapidly turns the steering wheel left or right (engine running about 2000rpms)
Pressure will immidiately shoot the seal and oil to pucket. Then it is easy to put new seal on its place.

I have done that several times, it works.
