I am wanting to convert my '61 Newport to power brakes. I have a pedal box and booster setup from a '62 300 that I'd like to use. Chrysler changed booster setup between '61 and '62, and I know the firewall is slightly different as well. Has anyone mounted a later booster on a '61? If so, what is needed and how did you do it?

Thanks!
Brian

Well I pretty much have the issue figured out except for one thing.

What is the correct length from the base of the push rod to the center of eye on the '62 and later boosters?

Most of the '62 specs say 4 3/4, but the booster that came out of my parts car is 5 3/8. Can't be sure if that was original but I kind of doubt it. PO actually lengthened the end of the 5 3/8 push rod with aluminum tubing to engage the brake light switch. Also bent the bracket that holds the switch, so there's no telling what was done in the past.

Does the length of the push rod really matter anyway? It seems that it would only affect the pedal position...
