These cars were just stolen a week or so ago from Sherwood Kahlenberg, father to our member Aaron , C-300. Sherwood sent this to me through WPC Club email.
Just trying to get this info out, they were stolen from the Los Angeles area in an industrial warehouse. I have no photos of them presently.

1964 Plymouth Sport Fury 426 wedge 4-speed convertible light copper original paint.
1964 Plymouth Sport Fury 383 3-speed on column. 28,000 miles, light copper colororiginal paint. Body damage at left rear light.
1966 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S with Air and automatic. 40,000+ miles. Silver with red stripe. Damaged front sheet metal.
If you know anything about the whereabouts of these cars please call Sherwood Kahlenberg, Phone 818-314-5672. OR Email sherwoodk@aol.com

If it's been a week+, they're probably out of the country.

Those cars were not taken 'out' for joy riding; somebody wanted them, somewhere in the world.

Insurance normally pays off after one month, on a Comprehensive-Total-Theft loss claim.

No one wants to lose his property (which legally belongs to the insurance company after they pay-off on the claim settlement), but, if our cars are properly insured (like, when they are in transit, on a car-carrier company)....an insurance settlement amounts to your selling the property at its Fair Market Value, to your insurance company.

It is our responsibilities to insure our cars for their Fair Market value, against their Risk of Loss.

Where "out of the country" do you think they could go (as cars)?

If it was to be licenced here, I think (cant say for sure) that ownership credentials are checked.

We have to have import approval papers ect for any imported cars that must establish legal ownership.

They ask for title documents, but in the states in the US where title documents are not given, I believe a notorised bill of sale is required.

My guess to their fate would be a chop shop or just plain broken into parts.

Without knowing the storage details, the other thought is like a show from the US we get here, if storage payments were not kept up, they were sold off to re coup costs, in which case, they are not stolen but unclaimed goods and have been legally sold.

The scary thing for us forigners (how do you spell that) is that, if you buy and restore a car that ends up being proven as stolen, you loose the car as it sits, regardless of how much money ect that you have put into it.

There are many "fat cats" throughout the world that want their toys and don't care how it is done and they live in countries that don't ask questions.

Gone in 60 seconds...

Cars in San Diego get driven into Mexico where they are "parted out (stripped)", and then, the Federales are 'unofficially'
notified of a hulk's whereabouts, so, they arrange to have the remains be towed somewhere (their cut of the deal) and
then notify the US authorities, which traces the VIN to the proper insurance company, which, then, pays off on the
towing/storage charges on the remains.

And everybody wins (except the insurance companies, and, really, their policy holders who foot most of the costs on their
company's claim settlement payments).
