To be auctioned is a 1 owner, 1957 Desoto Fireflite Sportsman, with a 341 Hemi V8, 88,650 one owner miles. This car was owned by the late Mr. Wayne Gatterman of the Kaseyville/Thomas Hill Lake, MO area. Wayne purchased the car new. Iman Auction Company of Salisbury, MO will sell the car at Mr. Gatterman's estate auction along with his personal property. There will be more detailed photos to come. Mr. Gatterman purchased his 57 Desoto Fireflite on February 21, 1958 from Reibel Motor Company of Moberly, MO. Wayne was well known in many of the surrounding areas, and he and his Desoto frequented more parades, fairs, and car shows in mid-Missouri than you could count. Mr. Gatterman babied this car for all of its life.

The car has excellent stainless trim, and the chrome is very good, with some scaling present on taillight housing and rear bumper. Paint shines well, and the body seems very solid. The engine starts with little effort, and run strong and responsive like a true Hemi should. The vinyl is good, but the upholstery is rough in the front seat. The dash shows some signs of coming up near the windshield on the passenger side, with some bubbling throughout. There are two spots in the corners of the trunk near the taillights that are brittle, also the exhaust has been rerouted to drop down, and out, of the stock bumper exhaust ports (likely due to condesation from the unusual exhaust system these Desotos possessed). There is a 3" dent in the back of the trunk above the rear bumper. The car comes with a very good set of 9.00 - 14 General Jet-Air white walls, with good tread. Pictures show the chassis/undercarriage with some surface rust that is to be expected, though it is very solid underneath.
