I think the car has the wrong engine in it. I better give you back your 100.00 so you will quit having these problems.

HAHA Im completely happy with my purchase.

UPDATE...I got the seal for the sending unit in and got the tank back in. The gas gauge even works now.....I had a misfire at idle so I did a compression test and all cylinders except one were around 120, which is fairly low. The low one was 70 psi. I adjusted the valves with the engine running and got that cylinder up to 118 psi. Now all cylnders are within 15 psi of eachother. The misfire went away and I am happy. i am not quite convinced that the compression test is accurate bcauseI bught it for $5 andit has some teflon tape around some of the threads. my best argument for this is that the car runs so strong and there wasnt a bit of sludge in the engine which makes me think someone had done some work or rebuilt the enginebefore I gott it.. I can get it up to 70-80 mph with very little effort. I am just going to drive the car and save up my money for a good compression tester and try again in a few months. The car is truely a pleasure to drive.

Update...The car hasnt had much attention due to the heat. I plan on saving up my money and putting an underdash aC in her by May. I did get a new compression tester. The numbers are equally much higher now.

I started another semester of the auto repair coarses. The instructor is going to help me replace the valve seals in a few weeks along with rebuilding the power steering pump and installing all other Parts involved in the power steering conversion. I will take pics of the progress once it begins.

For really good, reasonably priced insulation, look up www.lobucrod.com. They were about 10% of Dynamat's price, very easy to work with.

I spent a few hours yesterday tuning up this engine with a vacuum gauge. when I started the needle was at 16 inches. I realized that I had a leak between the intake manifold and the carburetor. I tightened down the carburetor mounting bolts and everything seems to be okay. I adjust the mixture screws to get the proper fuel mixture. now the gauge reads between 18 and 19 inches of mercury. this poly 318 sure does run strong. I also adjusted the steering gear according to my service manual.
