Expert Posts: 2264 Location: McComb, Mississippi | HAHA Im completely happy with my purchase. UPDATE...I got the seal for the sending unit in and got the tank back in. The gas gauge even works now.....I had a misfire at idle so I did a compression test and all cylinders except one were around 120, which is fairly low. The low one was 70 psi. I adjusted the valves with the engine running and got that cylinder up to 118 psi. Now all cylnders are within 15 psi of eachother. The misfire went away and I am happy. i am not quite convinced that the compression test is accurate bcauseI bught it for $5 andit has some teflon tape around some of the threads. my best argument for this is that the car runs so strong and there wasnt a bit of sludge in the engine which makes me think someone had done some work or rebuilt the enginebefore I gott it.. I can get it up to 70-80 mph with very little effort. I am just going to drive the car and save up my money for a good compression tester and try again in a few months. The car is truely a pleasure to drive. Edited by plymouth 2012-05-08 10:51 AM

Expert Posts: 2264 Location: McComb, Mississippi | I spent a few hours yesterday tuning up this engine with a vacuum gauge. when I started the needle was at 16 inches. I realized that I had a leak between the intake manifold and the carburetor. I tightened down the carburetor mounting bolts and everything seems to be okay. I adjust the mixture screws to get the proper fuel mixture. now the gauge reads between 18 and 19 inches of mercury. this poly 318 sure does run strong. I also adjusted the steering gear according to my service manual. Edited by plymouth 2013-03-07 7:29 AM
