Anyone sending a car from the States to New Zealand in the not so distant future? Got someone over there interested in parts but the shipping is five times the cost of the parts. Any suggestions welcome.

60lb box. 20 x 20 x 10 roughly.

I would split it up in as many of the USPS boxes that go for about ten bucks each to anywhere inthe states. Of course, it would be more to ship overseas, but the US P.O. does this all the time. I recently sent stuff to Chile, and it really wasn't that bad.

Unfortunetely I can't do that with the intake. That is 40lbs all by itself.

I just imported a car from the US to NZ. The days of just throwing someone elses parts in the trunk for a cheap/free ride are getting close to gone. EVERY last little part now is getting heavily scrutinized, dated receipts, who bought the parts, new or used, how much, etc etc for GST (goods and sales tax 15%). Also customs fees, MAF fees, loading fees, cleaning fees, really really add up.

Sorry to rain on the parade, but just a headsup, be prepared, it may cost you a decent amount of $'s to do it either way.

What Method did you Import yours.. Too the UK using RO / RO there is Indeed Extra cost for Parts in Car, Which they remove and charge extra for,, But if you use Container ( shared or alone ) then at the moment you can Full the Car with as much as you like at NO Extra Charge..

I only use containerized shipping. No extra shipping charge apart from a loading fee for parts inside the car, BUT down here every last part in that container is taxable, if you either devalue it or don't declare an item at all, the ENTIRE shipment can be seized by customs. I'm now not willing to risk my shipment on someone elses parts unless I know them well and that they understand that they will pay 15% tax on the REAL value of their parts and a customs clearance fee.
