I debated which Drive-in Cruise to hit tonite and opted instead to pop into our local Kiltie Drive-in. Befor the car hop came over to take my order I had made the aquaintence of a local enthusiast and his family in a jeep. I ordered and admired a great evening under the neon, knowing summer is drawing to a close soon. The Rootbeer was creamier and the burgers better than I had recalled, and I would have called the evening a success right then and there. When to my astonishment, a little girl in the parked car across from me pointed out her window in my direction, and in a loud voice said " Oh Look... herree comes another one". But before I could wheel around to look it was already along side me. a 2 tone (cream and Golden brown ?) 1959 Chrysler New Yorker 2dr HT. B_E_A_U_T_I_F_U_L We actually had a little crowd around us. Folks leaning out their windows just a little bit more than usuall trying not to look, but looking anyway. The carhops kinda hanging around more than uauall. Steve, had purchased the car from out of state a little over a year ago, ( from down Colorado way I think he told me. ) and is still chasing a few pieces and parts to really finish it off, but I gotta tell you that this car is a real looker. As it turns out, Steve also has a 1959 Desoto that he's restoring. He lives just down the road from where I work. I pointed him towards this site and encouraged him to join. I hope he does. We ate our food ( he had his kids along too) and we casually agreed to make other opportunities to get together, then it was time to leave. Yes ... it was a good,... no,... it was a GREAT night !
