From what I can "see" (but don't understand), there was no non-overdrive manual for the 55-56 Dodges. The 55-56 Plymouths apparently had both O/D and non-O/D. Odd that the OD trans for the Plymouth has a different p/n from the one in the Dodge and DeSoto. Different ratios, maybe?

Member Posts: 22 | I sourced one from a JY in Connecticut. '56 Plymouth, non OD, same as mine. Crossing fingers it is good and has better synchro!!! Otherwise, it's overhaul time. I would love to have the OD, but I'm WAY too lazy to find all the stuff I'd need and convert it over!!!

Just for information, these are the 56 Plymouth transmissions according to the Ross Roy Data book link that frwl (Igor) recently posted: https://hamtramck-historical.com/images/dealerships/DealershipDataBo... That is AWESOME, thanks!! I spent days googling trying to find something like that and came up empty-handed. I have a 56 service manual which pretty much covers that, but not in such illustrative detal. Does anyone know what these transmissions are actually CALLED (i. e. manuf., model #, etc.) I know the 2-speed auto is a Chrysler-built Power Flite, but I mean the manuals. Borg Warner? Something else? Anyone know? Thanks!
