Expert Posts: 2519 Location: central Illinois | Anyone tried using the ebay links lately? I like to use them to help out with a little money raising for the FL and because a lot of unwanted crap is filtered out. But now they all take me to pages of make up and perfume.

Elite Veteran Posts: 967 Location: Pittsburgh, PA | Fixing them now. Yes, they did change how the links work without warning. While I'm fixing them, though -- what is the best way to sort them? - Ending Soonest - Best Match - Newly Listed Presently, they are by newly listed. I can't recall how they were listed before...

Extreme Veteran Posts: 406 Location: Hilltown, PA | I would vote for "newly listed" since that would put the most recent listings (and the ones I haven't seen yet) on top. Gregg

Veteran Posts: 173 Location: christchurch New Zealand | I notice the perfume adverts have gone, but search 60 dodge and you get everything under the sun " Dodge", and in most cases everything except 1960 dodge, mostly to blame would be the clowns selling brand x products with no clue to what they fit.Must be an easier way finding real parts for real cars.,

Expert Posts: 2519 Location: central Illinois | Administrator - 2018-07-30 3:04 PM Which link are you looking at? 1960 DeSoto? Yes. I'm using Chrome. When the link opens it does NOT say Desoto 1960,60 in the title... it just says "items" When I switch to IE it works like it should. Edited by b5rt 2018-07-30 8:25 PM

Expert Posts: 2519 Location: central Illinois | I've noticed some of the ebay links are getting flooded with aftermarket A/C components and retrofit systems. The 1960 DeSoto just got loaded up today.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9741 Location: So. Cal | Ebay changed their search algorithm. They no longer put their misc crap under (Fits 1956 Plymouth) so that using -fits no longer works. Now when I type in a search for 1956 Plymouth I get all sorts of crap including VINTAGE FORD MODEL T BRASS RADIATOR CAP VINTAGE 1951-1952 CHEVROLET REAR LICENSE PLATE GLASS 1952 CHEVROLET GRILL TEETH and a bunch of other unrelated crap that ebay wants to try to force me to look at. The only way I have found to avoid it is to eliminate the Plymouth from the search and use the model name instead like 1956 Belvedere, Fury, or Savoy. Without the Plymouth name, Ebay's new algorithm doesn't yet know how to mess it up.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9966 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . Nathan: I think that it was Sven (wizard) who put me onto this trick: Put parentheses around what you are really looking for in order to eliminate the "fits" crap, as in put in (1956 Plymouth) in the search box. I just did that as a test for you (I do it twice daily for (1956 Dodge)) and it came back very clean, just 56 Plymouth stuff: https://www.ebay.ca/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313...

Expert 5K+ Posts: 9741 Location: So. Cal | That's a good trick, but it is limiting all searches to exactly "1956 Plymouth" in that order. Still, most sellers would naturally put the description exactly like that so that should work most of the time. But it wouldn't work if someone put "1955-56 Plymouth" for instance, or any other variation.

Board Moderator & Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 13062 Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | More crap is poured in on E-pain and they want you to see items that not really interest you for the slim posibility that you will buy something. Here's another example ("vintage")+("chrysler")-("alloy wheels","chrome classic","chrome steel classic") The + gives in this case vintage AND Chrysler The minus in this case will NOT show alloy wheels, chrome classics or chrome steel classic The problem with this search method is that E-pain always is one step ahead and when you filtered out one type of crap, there will soon be another one coming up.
