Mike McCandless - 2015-01-17 3:39 PM The only people that saw the data info, were those that walked up to the car. All communication from Barrett Jackson was that it was a D500 or Super D500.

Just curious...if you had won the auction and then read this thread and saw that the D500 had been added later, what would you have done ?

Ron

Made Barrett Jackson refund my commission, it's the only recourse you would have at that point.

What makes this disgusting is that the owner openly admitted it was not a D500 nor Super D. Barrett Jackson was informed of this and did not alter the description when the car came on stage. If you watched the auction, they altered around 25% of the cars that came on stage with information being incorrect. THAT'S what pisses me off. All the evidence was presented 12 hours before the car ran and they did nothing.

It is a dangerous game they play. People pay so much money for these cars now, they expect to get exactly what is advertised. It is not like when these cars used to be $25,000. All that said thought, it is still a really great car and probably pretty well bought. There are just so few of these cars for sale at any given time!

All I see with a car like this is clowns, lots of puffery, and the chances of an OEM original being
slim to none. It is what these cars attract. They are extreme and attact people who can't get
enough extreme. Why is it just about every one of these has all the Super D500 stuff on them ?

So, why is anyone surprised when this, or any other 59 Dodge convertible turns out to be "not
quite OEM" ? Because Barrett-Jackson said so ? One would have to be delusional to think that !

See, at least this car wasn't originally rebuilt 20 years ago for making a profit, just for pure enthusiasm for finned Mopars. As already told, this car was built by well-known Swedish restorer in the 90's and many options were added then. Won prizes on car shows. No one could imagine back then, that this very same car to be auctioned someday in the US claiming it as a real D500 or Super D500 for this high price. This is not the only '59 Dodge CRL equipped with dual quads restored in Sweden.

My point, exactly. More than any other Forward Look car, I would be suspicious that a 59
Dodge covertible has been made to be something it didn't leave the dealership as.

.... and it's not like that is necessarily a bad thing. It's just TOO obvious and to read here
about people being "shocked" that something like this *might* be happening ? Ha ! Get real !

Hell, if it's AT Barrett-Jackson in the first place, even some lowly Falcon, it's probably not OEM !
