Member Posts: 9 | Sid or Davan or anyone, What part# are they using for the kyb front shock? One more question I replaced all my bushing and ball joints on the front end about a year ago,now I find out the upper and lower control arms are made for left & right side. How do I tell If I got them on the correct side? No snickering Please Dale

I don't think the eccentrics can compensate for that. If that is the case, it will have an effect on your handling. Does it go straight and not wander? Edited by 62chrysler 2004-04-15 2:21 PM

Member Posts: 9 | Steve , The car does tend to wander,I am begining to wonder if I'm just not use to this sensitive steering. The alignment shop never had any comments when they aligned it some time ago. I was hoping I could put a heavy duty shock on the front and then use a steering stabilizer to firm up the feel. but I need to assure myself I have the upper & lower control arms on the correct side. Thanks for your comments Dale

Account Suspended (Steve Hobby Alias) Posts: 3365 Location: North West Jorsey | Dale Are the bushings good and is the idler and Centerlink OK? The car was probably so old they may have been afraid to say something. . . Some one around here must have the alignment specs so you can do it again. OK Boys. Let's have them!

Extreme Veteran Posts: 362 Location: Colorado, USA | The 'trick' to using KYB Gas-A-Just front shocks in a 57-61 Mopar car is to get the 65-68 C-body front shocks and cut approx. ΒΌ" from each side of the top bushings to fit them to 57-61 cars. 65-68 C-body shocks are identical to 57-61 shocks (in basic spec) except the former have a wider top bushing. When cutting, hold the old shock's bushing next to the 65-68 spec bushing and you get the exact dimensions to cut from it KYB has a part number for REAR shocks for 57-61 cars (which don't match later C-body shocks)

Account Suspended (Steve Hobby Alias) Posts: 3365 Location: North West Jorsey | Thanks Daven On the other hand, that's what hammers are for! LOL Not this boy. It's right or it's not done Where can I get upper control arm bushings in a hurry?

Extreme Veteran Posts: 362 Location: Colorado, USA | Another modification you can do to 57-61 cars is to widen the upper control bushing arm holes to accept B-body bushings, and those you can get "in a hurry" for sure. You can also get them in polyurethane, which is why I did this. Yes, they were a bit squeaky at first, but ride quality in my wagon was not affected....

Extreme Veteran Posts: 362 Location: Colorado, USA | http://www.summitracing.com/ I believe Sid used the EXP-220200 Steering Stabilizer, this would be a 'universal' piece that works on standard passenger car/truck center links (not those 'shock' jobs for lifted trucks!). Don't know right offhand which retailers sell KYB's
