I have a late 60`s 727 maybe 68-70. The transmission has a lever for shifting and a lever for the kickdown. How is the kickdown linkage done on these? I dont have any of it. Anyone have the linkage for sale? Ive done some searching and all I can find is Lokar stuff. Thanks for you help. Jason

Do you know what engine you are dealing with? There are several brackets and linkages. It has a slotted bracket that slides inside that odd bolt that goes in the side of the carb, it will have a rotation point, and another linkage going to the trans.

I may have a couple big block ones sitting around.

New linkage is available but it's pricey.

Best bet is a wrecking yard but don't mix parts, get the entire setup from a car similar to yours if possible.

He is right on not mixing the parts! You can't mix and match, really....

My engine is a 65 imperial 413. It has a 4-bbl carb(maybe carter?) the trans is a newer style like I said above. I suppose I will need to go with the cable, as Originality does not matter to me but price does. No wrecking yards around me have the linkage.

I just changed the linkage in my 59 that has a 62 TF tranny to a cable operated one.
It works fantastic, and you don't hafta steps all the way down to the floor to get it to downshift. Shift points are perfect too!

Jon of JMC performance procured and installed it for me. It is less money than trying to buy new (old style linkage).

Jason, all you need to do is find and scavenge the cable operated linkages aff a late model Dodge truck..It "PULLS" the levers instead of "PUSHING"...In a tight spot, it fits any trans tunnel, any engine, and all you have to fab is the little piece on your carb and a bracket to hold the cable...I have a few kick down linkages for Mopars, but as stated, there were so many different types.
1. BB 2BBL
2. BB 4BBL
3. BB 6BBL
4. BB 8BBL HEMI
5. SB2BBL
6.SB 4BBL
7. SB 6BBL

No, a 400 LOW DECK engine kickdown will NOT work on a 413 RAISED DECK...

In order for any cable setup to work properly the total travel of the carb lever where the cable attaches must closely match the total travel of the transmission lever. Since most transmission levers have more total travel than the carb lever does some engineering is in order.

I bought a aftermarket kickdown cable. I was going to make a kickdown with some brake tubing but this way will work better in the long run. Thanks
