This one as soon as the Rockford Fosgate sound system with 2000 watts of power goes in should be headed for it's new home in England. It's been a long hard road and I'll post some of the "finished" pics when I get around to it.
For now here is the interior we put in. Much of it had to be made other then the seat covers which we got from another source. The seat frames had to be cut and reshaped to make way for the "dips" I'm not 100% happy with the seat covers but they fit pretty good for the company that made them not having a set of frames to measure from. Some stitching mistakes and a lot of stretching and heat shrinking had and has to be done but at the end of the day it will look great.
These were taken as soon as it went in and there has been no cleaning or detailing done. Also I know the door release is on worng but they were on wrong in the movie and the owner wanted them that way.

There's a few other items I've managed to collect for this car that I've picked up over the last few years.

One of my favourites is an original label that apparently came with Fury's saying something along the lines of "this car was built for ........"

It cost me a tidy sum..... for a laugh I've asked Donnie to have LeBay's name on this tag, the name of the guy whom the car was built for in the book/ movie.

Donnie hasn't had it engraved as far as I'm aware guys, but here's the label I picked up from eBay a year or two ago.

John Fowlie has come across them in the past and told us where it should be placed.

I think they're fairly rare, this one is NOS.

Not long to go now, Donnie has something up his sleeve as far as the sound system's concerned.

My rebuilt Plymouth radio has an MP3 socket, on Donnie's advice I bought a small MP3 Amplifier and several different speakers.
I think he's going to rig the Radio some how so that when switched on, music from the Movie will come on instantly if I want it to.

He's also going to hide another Amp and CD player to supply the other subwoofers and speakers I bought on his recomendation.

Ages back I bought an Alarm that was recordable..... i.e. I think it can be set up to blast out "you keep a knockin' (but you can't come in)" if anyone gets too close, I'm not sure if it was just a recordable sound device or a complete alarm system.

Eddie Elvis told us of a headliner supplier that might be able to help me which is appreciated as no way will Mopar Mel get anymore of my money.
Once that's in she'll be almost ready for shipping to England I reckon.

Lee.

Wasn't it Roland LeBay's BROTHER who bought Christine new in the book / movie ?

I remember Roland grumbling about his brother never being willing to sell the car
in spite of a rash of bad events associated with the car.

Time to watch the movie again ?

The movie differs from the Book.

In the book, Roland was the Owner, he dies and Arnie/ Dennis end up getting in touch with his brother George, quite a subdued character.

In the movie, George is more like his brother's character, back brace and all, George sells Arnie his brother's car ("course she came back y'know")

.
The book makes a good read, it differs quite a lot.

I like the idea in the book that the Fury gets younger as the geeky kid Arnie pushes his car backwards around Darnel's yard.

Ha ha!! Thanks Glenn.

No one in the UK would know any different, in the unlikely circumstance I chance upon anyone that does, I'll ask Donnie to tack it on so I can pull it off pronto. :-)

To tell you the truth, it never quite rang true to me, it didn't quite look as though it should belong.

At least I know what it actually is now.

Too late to leave bad feedback on eBay..... lol

It's never been my intention to create a pure Christine clone, she started off as parts put together from a 57 after all.
I fell in love with the car in the scene at the Football Game.
It's just my dream to own a car that looks as good as that scene, is reliable and doesn't drink too much gas (UK petrol prices would make your eyes stream).

I only bought it for fun, although it was a little expensive.

I'll still use it.... unless anyone here with a 59 Fury wants it desperately.

Cheers.

Lee.

I think you should still use it Lee, it is a good looking thing after all........where are you planning to put it?
How about in the boot, set into the liner card against the back of the rear seat.....would not to be conspicuous there, you would know and anyone who gets that close to your car would have been invited to look anyway...... 0.02c

Lee.
THAT scene in that movie is probably responsible for a lot of us being a lot poorer than we would be if we hadn't seen it!
What are you paying for gas over there, if you convert it to US$ per gallon?
We pay NZ$2.25 per liter today for premium.
At 3.78541 liters per US gallon, and at 77 cents for every NZ dollar, we are currently paying US$6.55 per gallon down here!
With 4 American V8s and 2 Australian 6 cylinders in our 2 person family....some might say we are crazy.
You wouldn't have any trouble selling that nos 59 Fury plaque if you ever see a 58 one come along. I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it though-Christine never had one anyway.
Your car is looking awesome! You must lose a lot of sleep thinking about it so far away. Is Donnie going to ship it to you or are you going over there to drive it to the shipping port? Now that would be some trip!
Glenn.

The gas price in New Zealand is a little bit lower than here in Switzerland. The cheapest gas is 95 research octane: US $ 7.11, 97 octane: US $ 7.28, diesel: US $ 7.53 all the time 1 US gallon equals 3.78541 liter, actually 1 US $ is equal to 0.92 Swiss Francs. Regular (91 research octane) is not available in Switzerland, but in Germany and Austria - as far as I concern. Until 1999 leaded super (98 research octane) was available at the pump station. But since it's prohibited, except avgas (fuel for piston engine propelled airplanes).

Happy motoring!

Dieter

FYI: 95 research octane number is more or less equal to US plus 90 AON, 98 research octane number is about 93 AON, better quality than 91 AON (US premium, 91 AON; AON average octane number = (ron+mon)/2)

Glenn, I couldn't tell you what Petrol is at the moment mate, I drive a company car so I just fill it up and don't worry about the cost until the tax man sends me a bill.

All I know is that for a saloon it's easily costing about 80 quid to fill the tank up.

I guess that somewhere around $140.

Steve, Ray.... it's just a bit of fun....
as you say.... I'll get Donnie to stick it in.

I'm hoping my car will make a debut at Americana in July.
Donnie's pulling his finger out to try and complete her well before.
Americana isn't too far from Nottingham (Newark) , a few Christine fans including myself have met up for a few beers there for the last 3 years, how far would Newark be from Leeds mate?

And thanks Ripper, I'll upload a few videos when she's here.

In the book, Arnie bought the car from back brace wearing Roland D. LeBay.
Old Rollie croaked it and Dennis sought out his brother George when strange things started happening.

In the Movie, George now had the back brace, he was selling Christine on behalf of his dead brother, Roland.
I think it was just easier to portray it that way in order to make the movie shorter etc.

"My a**h*** brother bought her back in September '57. That's when you got your new model year, in September. Brand-new, she was. She had the smell of a brand-new car. That's just about the finest smell in the world, 'cept maybe for .................... "

I have been to americana before and it is only about 80 miles. Would gladly have shared a beer and checked out your car but unfortunately (or fortunately depending how you look at it) i will be at the power Big meet in Vasteras the same days for my first ever visit to there. I may go to the rally of the Giants at Knebworth the week after.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but that is a plaque for a 59 Fury. The 58 plaque was different.

Donnie hasn't had it engraved as far as I'm aware guys, but here's the label I picked up from eBay a year or two ago.

John Fowlie has come across them in the past and told us where it should be placed.

I think they're fairly rare, this one is NOS.

Glenn, please let me know if you come across any more of these. Thanks!

I did a reproduction run of these plaques in 2003 but they are all long gone now and not enough demad to tool up for another run unfortunately.
