Hey guy's... couple of questions. I am putting an early 80's 318 into my 61. I want to keep the push button shifting. If I use the later aluminum push button trans (I think 61 to 64) will it bolt up to my motor ok???
Second, my car came with all the brake stuff on the firewall missing. I found a 61 that had power brakes and got the steel bracket and brake boost (thanks Ralph) Problem is... the bracket is shorter than what I need. I have a 61 Belvedere and had a 61 Fury, they all had the same bracket, could my Sunurban be a manual brake car and would that make it different??? Where can I find the correct bracket. I will attach a photo.
Thanks for your help
Mark

A '62-'65 pushbutton 727 should bolt up if I remember correctly. '61 and earlier 318s had a different crank bolt pattern than the '62 and later 318s. You may find that the pushbutton cable is too short to reach your dash if using a '62-'64 Dodge/Plymouth pushbutton cable. ('65s used column shifters but still had a cable and dont have the ball and trunnion driveshaft mounting flange on the rear (slip yoke for '65 and up)) What I did for my '57 Plymouth is use a pushbutton cable from a '62-'64 Chrysler or Imperial. Also the '62-'65 transmissions have a separate park cable that would have to be routed somewhere. I made a bracket and mounted the original pushbutton park lever under the dash of my '57 Plymouth.

Also you can use a Poly 318 water pump so you can use your original radiator (LA318 water pumps face opposite way)
