Going from Michigan to the Grand Canyon and back... following the old Route 66. Any interesting boneyards along the way I should stop at?

It sounds like a very good trip to make. Do you have a possible date
when you are going to do this yet ?

The National De Soto Club is going to having meet in 21-25 July at
Spring Field, Ill..

Also it may be possible that during the West Direction that some "escort"
you for a ways through their area and then do it again on the East Direction.

Hmm.. That is a possibility. We will be on the way back during that timeframe. We are leaving around the 6th and have to be home the weekend of the 24th. Where is the DeSoto meet taking place specifically. I will add it to the possible agenda's. Mind you, we are not driving the 55 on this trip, she is not long distance worthy yet.

The De Soto Event is centered at the Crown Plaza Hotel. This would also make it possible
for others of this site to meet you in Spring Field and chat "Forward Look" while enjoying
some local pizza.

Well we are in Texas now, Panhandle area, Shamrock to be exact. Will be going through New Mexico and into Arizona in the next few days along I-40. Any stops I should make along the way?

Got some great forward look pictures to share with you all when I can get the camera hooked up to the laptop. Stopped at the 600 classics show room in IL and took pictures of all the FL vehicles. They had some gems.

I know the last two aren't FL's but I love the Hornet and the 300 was nice and worthy of inclusion. You can see the options and the price on most of the Windshields if you look closely enough.

Thanks for the pics of the F/L's. When my wife and I left Spfld., Ill. last Thursday, headed South on I 55, it was pouring down "cloud burst" level, aand she would not let me stop and gawk at the lined up cars. Could not tell due to rain and distance there were any F/Ls lined up. Now I may have to go back........................... Uncle Walt

Walt the pictures I posted were all the FL's I could find. There were a ton of other brands from the era there as well but I didn't take pics of those.

Theres Will Darnells yard up in Pennsylvania,it's pretty big and I hear he's got a pretty big s**tpile out back he will let you scrounge though,as long as you don't go thinkin you've got the gold key to the crapper.

Will's got a very abrasive personality, but he does have some 1958 Forward Look parts...I believe for Plymouth.
He also offers tool rentals and even rents bays for working stiffs that got to keep their cars running to put bread on their tables...be forwarned he does not like hot-rodders!
Also it would be wise to never run a car inside his place without an exhaust hose!...trust me on this one.
