My '61 Dodge sub has drivers remote mirror. I want to install the passenger remote mirror but where does the remote feature go in the dash. Do I drill a hole on the right side of the glove box or does it go nearer the driver? Dual remote mirrors were and option weren't they?

News to me , I thought the passenger side was manual only where as the drivers could be manual or remote style. Defer to other mirror experts...

There never was a dual remote mirror option for our cars. The 3-post hooded mirror is sometimes mounted on the passenger side, but there's no cables inside.

So no one is installing dual remote mirrors? I just thought this was being done with all of the high end cars being done on this site.

I have thought about it, there should be some new cars with cables for the passenger side mirror... Serge have some ideas with taking a modern motor unit, but I haven't heard if he managed yet.

Seems to me there has been past discussions in the Chrysler 300 clubs that in '61 or maybe it was '62, that a right side remote control mirror option was available. I could be wrong. Haven't seen that discussion in several years.

The installation will not be too difficult, but where would you mount the control "joystick"? On a '60 ('61) Chrysler there is the possibility to mount it to the right of the glove compartment. That would mean that you'll need a passenger that helps you to adjust it.
See this link for more information - seem like the Cordobas had 80" cables on their passenger remote mirrors - maybe possible to take those cables (and mirror) and adapt them to an older housing??

It was not offered as a factory option on these cars. Jeff Carter of JC Auto Restoration mounted a remote mirror on the passenger side of his 1961 New Yorker convertible, and mounted the cable controller over to the left of the auto-pilot control. See the photo below. He told me about this about 15 years ago and there were some issues involved but I don't remember all of them. I would imagine one issue would be the cable length to reach over to near the steering column.

Now I remember the other issue, is that the driver's side mirror hood has a detent position that automatically keeps the hood pointing to the left towards the driver so it would be pointing toward the road on the passenger side. I forget how he said he overcame that obstacle.
