Location: Parts Unknown | Looks sharp - I am curious as to why the SBC ??? I mean, I get it as far as you can go to the corner store and get a soda, bag of chips and a set of lifters right there off of the shelf but I think Ma MoPar has SO many KOOL powerplants that I never quite understand the SBC . . . That being said, I LOVE the look of the car - any other plans for it other than drivin the wheels off of it !?!?! |

Ryan, you live over by Frisco?
Really like your looong shift lever; for anyone history-challenged, the Looong shift lever was very much in vogue, in the 50's.
Beer-tap handles were also popular as shift-handles.
But, hey, if you ever wanna convert to full-on MoPar, you can always use your ride's shift handle to 'grenade' the existing engine/trannie!
Just kidding, Ryan....welcome aboard! I happen to know of a 'very-wicked'[-Am. Grafitti] 58 Belvie that happens to be running a SBC, too.
Have you considered putting on Moon Discs, or Baby-Moons, or Spinners, etc, or (pardon-the-CLICHE: !) painting the wheels 'red' ?

I know that around here, 340s are scarce and expensive. Back in Milwaukee, when I was in my early to mid twenties, 340s were getting expensive and somewhat difficult to find. We're talking about the early 1980s.
There are some hardcore 340 people out there who collect and hoard those engines for their cars which were built with 340s and to build A, E and '71-'73 B body high performance clones.
