I just picked up an Upholstery and Exterior Color Combinations book for the '58 Chrysler. This one doesn't have fun transparencies of cars to change the colors on, but it has a lot of good fabric & paint color info that I thought I would share here. The first few pages are devoted to the allowable color combinations. You could probably get a custom ordered combo if you wished though, so I don't think it was absolute.

The color code is as follows:
A: Raven Black
B: Stardust Blue
C: Air Force Blue Metallic
D: Midnight Blue
E: Spring Green
F: Cypress Green Metallic
H: Aztec Turquoise
J: Spruce Metallic
K: Satin Gray
L: Winchester Gray Metallic
M: Mesa Tan
N: Sandalwood Metallic
O: Tahitian Coral
P: Matador Red
R: Shell Pink
U: Bamboo Yellow
X: Ermine White
Z: Champagne Gold

The first section shows the fabrics for the Windsors, which includes all hardtops & sedans.

The second section lists the fabrics for the Windsor wagons. This fabric is really neat. The white spots you see here are really silver metallic thread that looks great weaved through the fabric like it is.

The Saratoga sedans get a soft bolster cloth to couple with the silvery chainmail fabrics.

Whereas, the Saratoga hardtops receive a metallic vinyl instead - except the red color. That one doesn't have a metallic look to it.

The New Yorker received a really neat "Fontainebleau" fabric that looks elegant with the patterns sewn into the seats. The New Yorker sedans were accompanied with an even softer bolster cloth than what the Saratoga sedans used.

And like the Saratoga hardtops, the New Yorker hardtop fabrics were coupled with metallic vinyls. These combos were also used on convertibles and New Yorker wagons as well.

A Windsor sedan could have been ordered with an optional all-vinyl interior for the kid-centric consumers to improve the wear factor.

Likewise, all the hardtops & convertibles could have been ordered with a very bland, one color vinyl.

The Saratoga sedans also had two color, all-vinyl options similar to the Windsor sedans.

And, you guessed it, the New Yorker sedans also had optional 2-color upholstery options as well. But now they are in leather!

The New Yorker wagons could also be ordered with the more durable Windsor wagon materials if you were more concerned with durability.

Super cool, Nathan!

And so rare.  Thanks for sharing images.  These are things that regular people just don't get to see.

Sure thing, Mike. I only wish other people posted up theirs as well. I should have put the cover at the beginning, but better late than never!

You said a mouthful, Nathan!  Bob in Austrailia sent several images to me of his '58 De Soto colors and fabrics book.  Maybe we should start a new sticky thread for images of these books?  Great resource material and ooo la la, difficult to obtain.

Look at how beautiful that metallic vinyl and patterned vinyl is on page 24!  I don't think SMS on their best day could reproduce it.

Yes, and it looks much better in person than in the photo. The scanner isn't able to capture the metallics very well. I'm also taken aback at how good the '58 Windsor red/gray fabrics look together. That would look stunning with a good pattern to lay it onto.
