I have a late production 1960 Imperial with an alternator. The shop that did work on my car lost the bracket (never again........). The bracket mounts to the exhaust manifold. If anyone has a 60 or possibly a 61 Imperial or New Yorker parts car with an alternator let me know. Can send pics of the bracket. This is the last thing I need to get my car running.

Thanks
Garrett

I didn't think the later cars had the alternator connected to the exhaust manifold. Never seen a '60 Imperial setup. The 4-speed 300F uses an alternator but it has cast-iron headers and I'm pretty sure the brackets are the same as the 1961 ram cars. Here is a 1961 ram engine showing the bracket that mounts to the front of the head. Note the early alternator that has less fins than later ones. I couldn't find a useful image of a 1961 413 non-ram engine showing the brackets.

I attached a photo here. This was sent to me by another 1960 Imperial owner who has a car with a factory alternator. So far no one has the bracket.

Ok, that is the cast iron generator bracket for A/C cars with additional parts welded on top of it.

This is the non-A/C generator bracket. Seems like they would have used this as a base since it would be easier to weld on the steel than the cast iron.

This is on my dodge, so not a BB, but it might help.
Pretty sure the alternator legs are the same spacing as the chrysler ones.
The bracket is a modified generator one

Thanks for the input guys. I may have to get a generator bracket and use that adapter, at least for now. Maybe modify a generator bracket like that. I'm sure my bracket must have been the same as the one in the photo but I don't have a picture of it as I didn't think it would get lost.....

I got my one as a kind gift from Paul (springsweptwing)

thanks for posting that wiz. never saw it before. nice gift! as, i believe, the alternator was an option on some big block cars in 1960 and in 1961 it looked completely different, its not a common part.

Yes Sid, ma MoPar sneaked in the alternator in the lowest range, the Valiants in '60 for to test if it worked out without complaints.
The other more expensive brands could have the alternator as an option (then they could blame the customer for chosing it :)).

As you write, in '61 the alternator became the new standard on all brands.

This makes the 1960 original alternator bracket a rare thing as it most probably was a low number cast.

I have a good, non-rusted GENERATOR bracket for a 1960 B-RB engine. Pix on request.

Thanks very much for the photo!! That really helps me as I have at least part number now and a photo of a correct bracket. That is what my now lost bracket used to look like.....

I just wanted to thank every one who replied to this post, especially Wizard posting the photo of the correct alternator bracket & part number. I was able to obtain this bracket and get the alternator mounted in my Imperial. I never would have without the help.
