| The wipers on my '58 Plymouth have stopped working. Were working OK before.
The switch is OK, I tested as shown in the service manual, all tested OK. I have voltage to the motor leads.
What could be wrong? Motor gone bad? If so, can this motor be rebuilt?
(These are the variable speed wipers.)

Probably easiest to replace it with another known good working motor than to find a rebuilder.

| Motor is grounded, so I now will begin to look for a variable speed motor that is known to be working.

Quite accessible from under the dash. Mine was dead, along with lights, horn, dash, window motors etc and one by one they were pulled apart, and cleaned, regreased and put back together. Now everything works. There is a brass park mechanism to pay attention to from memory, but not too hard to tackle. You can bench test before refitting too. Take digital pics for reference and have a crack at it !!! Colin

There is one here, and they rebuilt my generator and starter for under $50 total. They can repair the wiper motor. I asked when they did my other parts. Look around before you hunt for a rare and expensive variable speed motor, switch and wiring harness. |

| Thank you, 57 Plymouth and 57PlyBel.
There is also a shop here in town that has done many a starter and generator for me, I'll call them. If they cannot do it, I'll try it myself.
I already have the wiper motor out of the car.
