Re: 1962 Imperial 413 Questions

Jason, Thanks for the info.  I am going to have the heads done, I don't want to have to take the engine back out after it is installed.  As for the truck I have the 3.54 Spicer differential and at the 70 to 75 mph range I turn 3,000 rpm.  It does have what appears to be the original 4-barel carb and manifold.  Interesting that the 62 Imperial weighs more than the D-200 pickup.  I will call and get cam recommendations for the engine.

I would have the cylinder heads redone with hardened exhaust seats.  And definitely put in a hotter camshaft.  Being a truck it will likely have taller gears.  Probably 410’s  ??   since the engine will not likely need to be limited to low rpms with that kind of gearing.

Call Bullet Racing Cams at (662)893-5670. and ask their recommendation once you know the gear ratios

the stock cams will not allow the engine to run as efficiently as it could with higher rpms.

I have the engine, I was told it was taken out of a running car.  My intent is to put it in a 3/4 ton pickup that now has a 383.  The motor will be freshened up and checked internally.  Any recommendations on the engine while it is apart?  Not looking for performance upgrades but any suggestions will be appreciated such as what would be a good cam choice.

Thanks
