Dennis: I would have the cylinder heads redone with hardened exhaust seats. And definitely put in a hotter camshaft. Being a truck it will likely have taller gears. Probably 410’s ?? since the engine will not likely need to be limited to
low rpms with that kind of gearing.
the stock cams will not allow the engine to run as efficiently as it could with higher rpms. My 2 $ Jason R I have the engine, I was told it was taken out of a running car. My intent is to put it in a 3/4 ton pickup that now has a 383. The motor will be freshened up and checked internally. Any recommendations on the engine while it is apart?
Not looking for performance upgrades but any suggestions will be appreciated such as what would be a good cam choice.
