Re: 1962 Chrysler 300 Sport AC Bracket

Put a 440 in my 383 charger. Used the 383 bracket but it was to short to reach the bolt hole on one head. But I could install two bolts on the side near the compressor. Thinking that and the other brackets should hold it. Wrong on my way from being stationed in Del Rio Texas to London England. It sheared the bolts on the compressor side after only 40 miles of my trip. The belts fell off. I loosened the belts. Put rocks under the compressor mount and between the compressor mount and the carb. And tightened the belts as tight as I could get them. Drove it that way to New Jersey where it was put on a ship. I searched the junk yards and found a 413 with AC. Took the brackets from it. It had another bracket that I did not have on mine that ran from the top
of the compressor to a hole in on the intake near the coil mount. Put the brackets on it when it arrived in London. I just swapped the 440 for a 383. I had saved the 383 bracket.

It's true.
The 413 is a wider block than the 383.
That is the only bracket that reaches across the engine.
All of the other 5 brackets are the same.

Is it really that much  narrower?
I would think they both used the same part.
