He is asking about taking the drum off the hub, not the drum (or the hub) from the car.
I'm guessing that some early cars had the swaged wheel studs which kept the drums firmly attached and the swaging has to be cut away. Later I'm pretty sure the drums just come off. However, I don't know when that change took place and the other point is that a drum might be very reluctant to come off the hub simply because it's rusted on there.
Ultimately I'm sure he'll have to take the hub from the car and work on it all on the bench, but his issue is about getting the drum off the hub.
