Re: front wheel hub from the brake drum removal?

I thought the hub drum and studs were all one peace on the fronts of our cars I could be wrong stuff was changing so fast back then. So you have to take the dust cap off and the cotter pin and the castle nut are exposed and you remove them and it should slide off unless the drum has a ridge on the the edge and the shoes won't let it release, then you have to adjust the star wheel to bring the shoes in and pry off hopefully. Same for the rear only the drum rots to the axle hub and you need kroil to soak in through the studs and hit with a hammer on the edge that should release the drum. I know if you are having trouble with bearings or races they can be replaced. You can take those out by cleaning the grease out and you will see half moons on the back side of the race take a brass punch and drive them out alittle on each side evenly they come right out. The parts store should have that to replace. Hope this helps.

Subject: front wheel hub from the brake drum removal?

Hi all,

I received a question about removing the front wheel hub. I seem to recall we had a discussion about this quite some time
ago. I can't recall the suggestions, so maybe you do? Here is his question:

>  >>  How do you remove the front wheel hub from the brake drum? Shop manual
>  >>  doesn't address it and I don't want to destroy the hub by too much
>  >>  gorilla force.

Any tips/suggestions?

Thanks,
Gary H.
