Mike, the distributor had some kind of issue, apparently when it was grounded to the engine it malfunctioned. Great spark when out of the engine and turned by hand. Pretty simple device-magnetic pickup with 2 wires going to it. When I replaced it with the new MSD, problem solved. The bonus is: eliminated the ballast resistor, idles better, seems to run better at high rpm-short burst anyway. T Regards, Travis Sent from my phone We still want to know what was wrong! Turn the distributor by hand it would lite you up (painfully). New Mopar distributor and orange box. Rewired, grounded everything direct to the battery same results. Bought a new MSD box, same results. Finally just bit the bullet and ordered a new MSD distributor and wires. Lit right off. I’m just glad Summit had them on sale, saved me $100. Ordered 11:30 Thursday, on my front porch Friday night, and they paid the shipping.
