--Ricky,Regarding fitment of carpet and safe mounting of seatbelt brackets/bolts; it would probably be best to not fasten your seat belt brackets on top of the carpet but rather directly to the floor pan and cut appropriate slits/holes for the bracket. Reason for bolting directly to the floor is to preclude any chance of the brackets loosening over time as the carpet is compressed; any “looseness” in these fasteners can be a potential hazard.I am presently installing new four-point retractable harnesses in my Plymouth and have determined cutting slits for the “brackets.” The Plymouth is a rolling chassis void of all interior so access and mobility while working is not an issue which makes the job much easier.All my “other” required holes for seat rails*, accelerator pedal will be made after I secure carpeting to the floor pan. The easiest way to create holes/entrance into the carpet will be to use an awl while underneath the car and poking through the existing floor pan “holes” for these fastening points.Gary Pavlovich--So after the floor pans are done – I can finally put in carpet.
In an original car - What bolts thru the carpet if anything? Gas pedal? Seat mounts? Seat belts?
Or does the carpet have slits and holes in these areas?
